POWER'S IN THE BLOOD! August 28th, 2005
************************************************************
Recently the prestigious American Journal of Cardiology
published a study of 14 patients who had high cholesterol,
but were otherwise free of heart problems. These patients
started taking the popular statin, Lipitor. Within 12-24
weeks, 10 of the 14 patients (71%) developed abnormalities
during diastole (the resting phase of your heart's cycle).
Diastolic dysfunction is a major cause of congestive heart
failure. In recent years the number of people suffering from
congestive heart failure (CHF) has skyrocketed. This fact is
in direct correlation to the introduction of the statin
drugs.
Since the introduction of statin drugs, claimed by
proponents to save your heat from "horrible" cholesterol,
the incidence of CHF has exploded. Over 400,000 Americans
can expect to get CHF yearly and about half of those will
die within five years of this conventionally untreatable
disease. Fortunately, there's a good side to this story. In
this same study, nine of the 10 patients who developed CHF
started taking coenzyme Q10. Eight of the ten saw the
diastolic abnormality completely reverse. That's an 89%
success rate! Dr. James Rowan says, "We know that statins
work by preventing the function of an enzyme in your liver
that makes both cholesterol and CoQ10. We know that CoQ10 is
an absolute requirement for energy production, oxygen
combustion, and protection of your mitochondria (your cells
energy production). And we know CoQ10 deficiency is a major
cause of congenital heart failure. The connection is obvious
and indisputable." Second Opinion, Vol. XV, No. 1.
The really good news is that
OPC-150
is overall many times more effective than CoQ10, but to
cover certain technical areas we have included it in the OPC
formulation. The bad news is that the drug companies have
sold America a bill of goods. There is no scientific
evidence that cholesterol causes heart disease of any kind.
The drug companies jumped on the bandwagon when they saw
that cholesterol was present in most cases of heart related
disorders. They also knew that they could produce drugs that
would eradicate cholesterol, but they do not advertise the
fact that they destroy your kidneys, as well as nutrients
that protect the circulatory and neurological systems. Dr.
David Williams is right on the money stating: "One of
cholesterol's functions is to form, support, and protect
cell membranes and nervous tissue. It only makes sense that
"depleting" cholesterol would leave these areas more
vulnerable to injury and destruction, and lead to an
increased risk of neurological problems and cancer.
Cholesterol-lowering drugs, including the new popular statin
drugs, work by interfering with normal liver function. They
may also interfere with the liver's ability to neutralize
excess hormones and environmental toxins, which would also
lead to increased risk of cancer and various neurological
problems." Alternatives, Vol. X, No. 20.
The real cause of heart disease is undigested fats and
proteins which are known medically as homocysteines. That
brings us right back to our very own standard bearer:
TOTAL ENZYME-
the enzymes do the work of taking care of undigested fats
and proteins as well as keep our kidneys and liver running
smoothly. OPC-150 builds up the immune system and keeps the
body free of disease causing free-radicals.
